The Power Of Communication
The Tempstar® SmartComfort® VS 80 Variable-Speed Two-Stage Gas Furnace featuring the Observer™ communicating system is designed to take your home to a new level of comfort and efficiency. Teamed with our Observer communicating wall control and the appropriate air conditioner and indoor coil, the SmartComfort VS 80 functions as part of a complete communicating home comfort system. Various components of the system “talk” to each other electronically, fine-tuning comfort levels while maximizing energy savings.
Enjoy Two-Stage, Variable-Speed Comfort
This two-stage furnace with an ECM variable-speed motor gives you a comfort advantage over other gas furnaces! Unlike single-stage furnaces—which can heat up fast and shut down fast, causing uncomfortable temperature swings—the SmartComfort VS 80 delivers consistent heat and overall comfort. The two-stage system operates at low heat most of the time and automatically adjusts as needed to meet the desired temperature. Running the variable-speed blower fan continuously can improve indoor air quality.
High Efficiency, Quiet Operation
The sturdy steel cabinet is thermal lined and insulated to reduce the amount of heat and operating noise that escapes. A sealed blower compartment, soft-mount components, and the variable-speed blower motor also reduce operating sounds. The ECM variable-speed blower fan can also give you an increase in cooling efficiency that can translate to an increased SEER rating when matched with select Heil air conditioners and evaporator coils.
The Heart Of The System: The Heat Exchanger
The proven RPJ® (Rigid Press Joint) heat exchanger is designed to force more heat to the outside surface for increased heat transfer, and it’s constructed of tough corrosion-resistant aluminized steel. The weld-free interlocking clamshell design reduces cracking or separating over the life of the gas furnace. And you can count on energy savings with an 80% AFUE rating, compared to an older, less efficient furnace.
